Photography

For anyone interested in photography, this group meets monthly, on the second tuesday of the month.

Fancy equipment is not needed – whatever camera (or phone!) you have can produce terrific images.

At the start of May, together with evening-class students from RGU, we set up a studio in the shed, and had a go at portrait photography:
At our June meeting we viewed a great selection of photographs on the theme “Colourful”.  Our colourful images were shown to great advantage on Trevor’s very high quality 27 inch monitor.  Thank you Trevor for bringing it to the meeting – much appreciated.
We also looked quickly through some of the photographs taken during our group visit to Fittie on 5th June.  The trip to Fittie was much enjoyed by those attending and it was agreed we should do something similar to another venue – Bob suggested Old Aberdeen – probably in September.
Ian advised it would not be possible to meet in July and that an August meeting could be difficult to arrange.  Accordingly, it was agreed that the next meeting would be on the second Tuesday of September i.e. 10th September – 6.45 pm in the Shed.  Instead of a specific theme for September it was agreed that the photos for display should be a small selection – say 6 each – of photographs taken during July and August 2024.  It would also be good to take a more leisurely look at the “Fittie Photies” and to look at the “Colourful” photos again so that those unable to be present yesterday can see them. I am sure those who were present would be happy to see them again.  So, for the September meeting, please bring along your “Colourful” photos, your Fittie photos and your July/August selection.  That will ensure our new session gets off to a bumper start!
Since it will be 3 months until we next meet we should try to have sufficient number of prints to allow the displays in the Shed to be changed, at least once, over the summer period.  It was agreed everyone should provide at least 1 landscape print on the theme Colourful (with captions please) and that some should also provide some portrait prints.  Could the Fittie visitors also provide a couple of prints for display.  If there are not enough prints initially we can always contact you for extra ones when the displays are due to change!
I hope summer does come and that you will enjoy it whether at home or on holiday!
Happy snapping!
Ian
