Photography

For anyone interested in photography, this group meets monthly, on the second tuesday of the month.

Fancy equipment is not needed – whatever camera (or phone!) you have can produce terrific images.

The Photography Group met after a two month break over the Summer.  A selection of photographs from the Colours theme, from the Fittie outing and from Summer 2024 were viewed, enjoyed and gave rise to the usual interesting discussions.

It was agreed that all present, apart from Ian, should provide 1 portrait and 1 landscape print for the boards – Ian to liase with Trevor and provide 2 landscapes.  Anyone wishing to be included in a Snapfish order should send Bill jpegs of their chosen images by next Monday – 16th September.

Attention was drawn to the Wildlife Photography Exhibition currently in the Aberdeen Art Gallery.  The exhibition is of 100 photographs, selected from thousands of international entries, depicting various aspects of Wildlife.  Those who had visited the exhibition had thought it stunning and very well worth the £5 entry fee.  They encouraged others not to miss the opportunity to see the exhibition before it closes on 27th October.

The theme for October was agreed as being Wood and that this would include Woods.

It was also agreed that there should be an ongoing theme – Nature’s Moods.  Members were requested to start a collection on this theme – possible first viewing date – January 2025 – but ongoing, if proving successful.

An outing to Seaton Park was proposed for Friday 10th October – starting at 10.00am in the car park within Seaton Park, weather permitting of course.  The University Zoology Museum would be considered as an alternative venue if the weather was not suitable for outdoor photography.  Bill undertook to make enquiries.

The next normal meeting will be on Tuesday 8th October.   Further details of the outing can be discussed at this meeting.

Happy snapping.

Ian
